I'm thinking of buying a Rev counter and the reason is I am paranoid about over heating and my theory is that if the fan belt drop then the rev counter wont get a signal which will alert me to the fact that the belt has broken, I know I could get a stat but I don't think that would be as reliable? has anyone else got any other ideas?

Never thought of that and when you think about it it makes perfect sense, I have to admit I do worry from time to time about not being able to see a temp gauge and have pondered in the past about fitting some sort of thermostat but this might be the answer.
