Finally got my new engine in the mk2 today. A massive thanks to Will, Danny and Colin for all their help as I supervised It's in and running and sounds sweet which is the good news. The not so good news is there's a slight water blockage somewhere, not a major issue just a pain in the glutimus maximus! Colin was on hand with the camera to log the days events, even managed to get a few pics of me doing a bit which is a rarity in itself The pics will be posted shortly

So here we go........... Starting with Gaz's poorly Golf and I can tell you that Gaz was in [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]First job was to get all the parts need fitted to the replacement engine while Gaz looks on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Although he did try to look like he knew what was going on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]But the pressure was just too much for him [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]But Will and Danny worked on regardless [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]With Gaz overseeing [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]You can do all this without a good 'Breakfast' provided by Hannah [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]A few last minute adjustments and its ready to go in [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Gaz did really get stuck in here it wasn't just for the camera [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]A lot of huffing and puffing and a few specially chosen words and it was there [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Time now for sorting and refitting the drive shafts [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Danny was gone sometime [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Some final important adjustments by Will [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]And here we see yet again Gaz actually doing some work and posing at the same time [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]But this was all far to much to soon for Gaz [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Gaz did eventually wake up and then set about his favorite past time [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]At this point I had to leave and since Danny and Will were busy sorting out the connecting up of cables etc there was no one to take pics, yes you guessed Gaz was very tired poor thing Well the long and short of it was that the engine fired up but we still have a slight over heating problem which maybe just an airlock in the system which Danny will try to sort out later in the week. Well done guys you (Even Gaz ) did a great job.

Here you are Gaz, I've tided up the wiring and covered it all in Black tape so now it won't bother you so much Re-secured the expansion bottle and secured the rad and fan, oh and the power steering bottle, also put missing bolt in air thingy and secured the washer bottle [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]NO WIRES

Further update, Will has been and fitted the clutch cable, we used the new one but modified it a little so that's done Will noticed that the brakes feel a bit spongy so not sure what you want to do now? Are you thinking of putting it in for mot and see what happens?

Another day on the Mk2 this time it was the wheels that were getting a makeover After a joint effort of flatting them down Will began to coat the first 2 with Etch primer Don't know who this was [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]This is what they looked like after about 4 coats [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Then came the top coats [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Followed by the Lacquer [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
