PostSubject: Busy day swapping engines   Sun Aug 10, 2014 8:18 am

Finally got my new engine in the mk2 today. A massive thanks to Will, Danny and Colin for all their help as I supervised  LMHO
It's in and running and sounds sweet which is the good news. The not so good news is there's a slight water blockage somewhere, not a major issue just a pain in the glutimus maximus!
Colin was on hand with the camera to log the days events, even managed to get a few pics of me doing a bit which is a rarity in itself  Laughing
The pics will be posted shortly

So here we go........... Starting with Gaz's poorly Golf and I can tell you that Gaz was in  Crying or Very sad

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

First job was to get all the parts need fitted to the replacement engine while Gaz looks on  Shocked

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Although he did try to look like he knew what was going on  LMHO

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

But the pressure was just too much for him

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

But Will and Danny worked on regardless

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

With Gaz overseeing  LMHO

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

You can do all this without a good 'Breakfast'  Eating provided by Hannah  Thanks

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

A few last minute adjustments and its ready to go in Cool

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Gaz did really get stuck in here  Surprised it wasn't just for the camera  Very Happy

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

A lot of huffing and puffing and a few specially  chosen words  Shocked  and it was there  Razz

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Time now for sorting and refitting the drive shafts

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Danny was gone sometime  Wink

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Some final important adjustments by Will  Star

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

And here we see yet again Gaz actually doing some work and posing at the same time  Sick

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

But this was all far to much to soon for Gaz  Shocked

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Gaz did eventually wake up and then set about his favorite past time  Eating

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

At this point I had to leave and since Danny and Will were busy sorting out the connecting up of cables etc there was no one to take  pics, yes you guessed Gaz was very tired poor thing  Wflag

Well the long and short of it was that the engine fired up but we still have a slight over heating problem which maybe just an airlock in the system which Danny will try to sort out later in the week. Well done guys you (Even Gaz Surprised ) did a great job.  Clap Clap

Further update, Will has been and fitted the clutch cable, we used the new one but modified it a little so that's done  Thumb Will noticed that the brakes feel a bit spongy Question so not sure what you want to do now? Are you thinking of putting it in for mot and see what happens?

Another day on the Mk2 this time it was the wheels that were getting a makeover  Thumb

After a joint effort of flatting them down Will began to coat the first 2 with Etch primer  Clap

Don't know who this was  LMHO

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

This is what they looked like after about 4 coats

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Then came the top coats

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Followed by the Lacquer
